New Year at Hotel Decameron El Pueblo

Hotel Decameron El Pueblo
Hotel Decameron El Pueblo

If you’re planning a memorable New Year’s celebration in Peru, we highly recommend making a reservation at the picturesque “Decameron El Pueblo” hotel. I had the pleasure of visiting with my family to celebrate New Year 2023. To that end, I can confidently say that every minute spent there was truly worth it.

Tips:

  • How to get there? The best way is by taxi, as public transportation in the area is chaotic and limited. If you have your own car, the hotel provides ample parking space. It should take you between 35 minutes to 1-hour drive from Lima city center.
  • Room Types: Ensure you choose a room according to your preferences, as there are various types, and, most importantly, check their accessibility if you’re traveling with elderly people.
  • How long should I stay? We recommend a minimum stay of 3 nights for a relaxed and enjoyable experience, starting from the afternoon of December 30th until January 2nd.
  • For more information, visit their website.

El Pueblo, A Beautiful Andean Village

Firstly, the hotel’s name “El Pueblo”, which means “The Village” in Spanish, perfectly matches its beautiful surroundings and atmosphere. It resembles an Andean village with cobblestone streets and slopes leading to various types of rooms.

In fact, some rooms resemble cozy Andean cottages, while others have a more modern design. It’s worth noting that some rooms are situated on a hill, which may be suitable for younger or more adventurous guests. Therefore, if you’re traveling with elderly family members who might have difficulty with slopes, it’s advisable to request rooms that are easily accessible.

Activities and Entertainment for Everyone

Secondly, El Pueblo offers a wide range of recreational, playful, sports, and cultural activities to entertain the entire family. We really enjoyed all the activities such as:

  • Pool games and competitions, including a water slide.
  • Cocktail-making classes where you can learn to prepare Pisco Sour, Sangria, and other Peruvian cocktails.
  • Target shooting with shotguns and archery.
  • Cajón peruano lessons (a Peruvian musical instrument).
  • Festejo dance classes (a typical Afro-Peruvian dance).
  • Yoga, tennis, aerobics.
  • Trekking on the hillside (be sure to wear proper shoes).

For night owls, there’s a disco, karaoke, and a cinema. Additionally, there are theater performances and shows every night at the plaza.

To encourage participation in various competitions, games, quizzes, and contests, they reward you with coupons of different values. During the program, there’s a day when items are auctioned off, and you can use your coupons as a form of payment.

Moreover, since it’s an all-inclusive resort, you can rest assured that you’ll enjoy the richness of Peruvian and international cuisine. The hotel boasts a massive restaurant that serves buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If that’s not enough, there are also little shops selling sandwiches, ceviche, ice cream, coffee, cocktails, and more, just a request away.

Celebrating New Year 2023

For the New Year’s celebration, the main event was scheduled for the night of the 31st. They had musical groups to liven up the party and a spacious dance floor. We didn’t have to worry about anything; they provided dinner, hats, glasses, garlands, and party favors. All you need to do is be ready for a fantastic time.

📍Sainte-Chapelle, Paris Sainte-Chapelle is one 📍Sainte-Chapelle, Paris

Sainte-Chapelle is one of my favourite sights to visit in Paris for its beautiful stained glass windows and fascinating history ✨

Here are some travel tips for your visit:

🎟️ Book your tickets online to avoid long queues.
☀️ It’s best to visit on a sunny morning to avoid crowds or before sunset, so the sun’s rays enter at an angle. I took this video first thing in the morning👆🏽
🪟The visit starts in the Lower Chapel. But you can find the hidden staircase at the side of the entrance to go straight to the Upper Chapel, which contains the stained glass windows.
🕚 It’s pretty small, so it can take you 30 min to 1 hour to visit. But slowing down, perhaps listening to the audio guide or simply spending some time to marvel at its beauty it’s definitely worth it.
🚶🏽‍♀️It’s only 5 min walk from the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Did you know..?

🎨The stained glass windows depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible. In the 13th century, much of the world’s population was illiterate, and that’s why churches were decorated with sculptures, stained glass and paintings telling stories of the Bible.

I actually missed out on this on my first Paris trip. But when I found out it’s what inspired the Phantom of the opera, I knew I had to visit on my second visit - and it did not disappoint!

🕛 Plan between 1 to 2 hours to admire all the unique spaces. The architecture, decor and ambiance make it all worth it.

🎼 If you are a fan of the arts, especially theatre and music, this place will definitely resonate with you.

Facts:

🛍️ It’s an upmarket French department store chain, the biggest in Europe and founded in 1893.
✨ It’s known for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture, upscale fashion, gourmet food and in-store activities.
🪩 The glass dome is one of the most recognisable features.

Tips:

🗼 Go up to the rooftop for panoramic views of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower.
🎭 Visit the Opera Garnier while you are in the neighbourhood. It’s only a couple of minutes away.
🖼️ You can walk to the Louvre Museum in about 18 min, so you can see both places on the same day.
