Riad Jona, an oasis in the heart of Marrakesh

An authentic Moroccan house with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

While doing a lot of research about cute riads with the best location, we came across Riad Jona (website). It had good reviews, reasonable prices and it was only 11 minutes to the main square. We are happy to say that it did not disappoint!

Some tips for your stay:

  • If it’s your first time in Marrakesh, book the pick-up from the airport service, so you don’t have to worry about getting a taxi to the hotel.
  • On the way back to the airport, you should feel more comfortable taking the taxi on your own. Ask the staff for the price range for taking a taxi to the airport.
Facilities

We stayed in the ‘Superior’ room, a double room located on the first floor with a double bed, private bathroom, and air conditioning. The room was beautifully decorated with antique furnishings and it was quiet.

We had read some reviews that pointed out that some rooms were a bit noisy, but this was only the case for the rooms on the ground floor, as the reception office and kitchen were there. So bare this in mind when you choose your room.

Other areas included a beautiful terrace where we sat to have our breakfast every morning, an outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi, a restaurant, and other common areas to relax on a couch while reading books.

Food

Their breakfast was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. They had a beautiful selection of authentic Moroccan savory and sweet dishes, such as Moroccan tea or coffee, orange juice, fresh fruit, Moroccan pancakes, and cakes changing over the days. We loved sitting on the terrace next to the pool. It was such a relaxing and peaceful moment.

One of the days we decided to have dinner there, and we ordered the Chicken Lemon tagine and the Lamb tagine. The food was mouth-watering. So much that we decided to get the cooking class that they offered.

The Moroccan cooking class lasted around 2-3 hours. We made bread, a starter and a main: the Chicken Lemon tagine and the Lamb tagine. We also got the recipes. They were both delicious, but the Chicken Lemon tagine was our top favorite!

📍Sainte-Chapelle, Paris Sainte-Chapelle is one of 📍Sainte-Chapelle, Paris

Sainte-Chapelle is one of my favourite sights to visit in Paris for its beautiful stained glass windows and fascinating history ✨

Here are some travel tips for your visit:

🎟️ Book your tickets online to avoid long queues.
☀️ It’s best to visit on a sunny morning to avoid crowds or before sunset, so the sun’s rays enter at an angle. I took this video first thing in the morning👆🏽
🪟The visit starts in the Lower Chapel. But you can find the hidden staircase at the side of the entrance to go straight to the Upper Chapel, which contains the stained glass windows.
🕚 It’s pretty small, so it can take you 30 min to 1 hour to visit. But slowing down, perhaps listening to the audio guide or simply spending some time to marvel at its beauty it’s definitely worth it.
🚶🏽‍♀️It’s only 5 min walk from the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Did you know..?

🎨The stained glass windows depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible. In the 13th century, much of the world’s population was illiterate, and that’s why churches were decorated with sculptures, stained glass and paintings telling stories of the Bible.

🕛 Plan between 1 to 2 hours to admire all the unique spaces. The architecture, decor and ambiance make it all worth it.

🎼 If you are a fan of the arts, especially theatre and music, this place will definitely resonate with you.

✨ It’s known for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture, upscale fashion, gourmet food and in-store activities.
🪩 The glass dome is one of the most recognisable features.

Tips:

🗼 Go up to the rooftop for panoramic views of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower.
🎭 Visit the Opera Garnier while you are in the neighbourhood. It’s only a couple of minutes away.
🖼️ You can walk to the Louvre Museum in about 18 min, so you can see both places on the same day.
